Marion Poet

Marion J. Poet, 87 of Charlevoix passed away on June 14, 2017 at Bay Bluffs in Harbor Springs.

Marion was born on March 5, 1930 to the late Leo and Rhoda (Peters) Putman.  On May 15, 1948 in Kentucky, Marion married Melvin Poet who preceded her in death on March 2, 2003. Marion and Melvin lived in Romulus and Belleville for many years where she was a member of the Romulus Community United Methodist Church. She was a school bus driver for 18 years at Belleville Public Schools. In 1989 Marion and Melvin moved north to Johannesburg. Marion enjoyed baking especially making wedding cakes.

Marion is survived by children, Steve (Nevada) Poet of Vanderbilt, Marie Fitzhugh of Charlevoix, 6 grandchildren, Gregory, Diana, John, Alicia, Erica, Tara, Faye, 25 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, brothers, Bud (Delores) Putman of Florida, Everett (Jeannie) Putman of Charlevoix, Dale Putman of Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, granddaughter Leisa, 2 sons Bill and Phillip Poet, 4 brothers and 6 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Randy Hitts officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2017 also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at Tyler Street Cemetery in Van Buren Township, Michigan.
