Marion Conrad

Marion Joan Harris Conrad, 83, of Bellaire passed away January 31, 2014 at Heritage Haus. She was born April 8, 1930 in Royal Oak, the Daughter of Wayne and Lillian (Clark) Harris. Marion graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1948. On August 6, 1949, she married Robert C. Conrad, at the First United Methodist Church in Royal Oak, MI, where she remained a longtime member. She met her future husband while working at Burroughs Adding Machines while he installed her desk phone. Her love of friendships and family, traveling, gardening, sewing and needleworking, singing, pets, playing cards and games lasted throughout her life. Surviving are two children: Deborah (Fred) Goldenberg of Bellaire, MI, Carole (William) Walker of Berkley, MI, one sister, Marjorie Parent of Riverview, MI and one brother-in-law, William (Jeanette) Conrad. She had four loving grandchildren: Chad (Kate) DeWolf, Laura (Brandon) Hall, David (Nami) Goldenberg and Elana Goldenberg; three beautiful great-grandchildren, Jack and Anna DeWolf and Galit Goldenberg, several (grand and great) nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bob, on November 7, 2003 and brother-in-law, Allen Parent, August, 2013. Marion moved to the Traverse City's Villiage at Bay Ridge in 2009, where she enjoyed meeting many new friends, then in 2011, to be nearer to her daughter, Debbie and to gain assistance with her Rheumatory Arthritis at the Heritage Haus in Bellaire, MI. The family is grateful to the many helpful people from Heartland Hospice that assisted Marion during her last days, but mostly to her Heritage Haus (AFC) family of three + years: Chryle Land, owner and caregiver and her staff for their kindness and compassionate friendship and loving care. She considered Heritage Haus her home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 5, 2014, 12:15 p.m. at Roseland Park Cemetery, Berkley, MI. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Heritage Haus Memory Garden in Marion Conrad's memory, where her flowers can continue to bloom at Heritage Haus, P.O. Box 253, Bellaire, MI 49615 or to With A Little Help From My Friends, 3820 Ritt Rd, Bellaire, MI 49615 to care for homeless animals. The Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements. Please sign her guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
