Marilyn Gay Sobleskey, 71, of Charlevoix, went home to be with her Lord with her family by her side on Saturday, September 24, 2016. She was born December 11, 1944, in Flint, to Howard and Norma (Boze) Brown.
Marilyn was a long time resident of Charlevoix where she belonged to the Bible Baptist Church, being one its first members. She crocheted, enjoyed reading, loved to sing and watch old movies. Most of all she enjoyed raising her family.
On April 15, 1989, she married Lawrence J. Sobleskey in Ionia.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, Larry; her children, Anthony Scott “Tony” Battle of Cross Village, Amy (Steven) Fuller of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., Katherine Marie (Jeff Craig) Johnson of Lansing, Charles Cory (Corine) Battle of Killeen, Tex., Joseph L. (Liz) Battle of Charlevoix, Nancy Jean (Tom McDanel) Sobleskey of Savannah, Ill.; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Trigg; brother, William “Bill” Brown both of Owosso. Marilyn was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Martha Ann Battle.
Visitation will begin at 11 am, Thursday, September 29, at the Bible Baptist Church in Charlevoix, where the funeral will begin at 1 pm. Pastor Philip Green will officiate. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix.
