Marian Hocking

Marian R. Hocking, 76, of Central Lake, went home to be with her Lord Wed. Oct. 20, 2010. She was born Aug. 31, 1934 in Detroit, the daughter of John and Clara (Numbers) Johnson. Marian was a RNC and worked at the Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids for many years. In 1992 after moving to Central Lake she continued with nursing working at Northern Michigan Hospital and Meadowbrook Medical Care Facility. She enjoyed painting and knitting in her free time. Marian was known as a "practical joker" and especially enjoyed giving the doctors she worked with a hard time. She had a very positive and optimistic outlook on life that she shared with everyone she knew. Marian is survived by her children David (Janalee) Hocking of Hudsonville, James (Deborah) Hocking of Allegan, Debra (Kenneth) Rillema of Zeeland, Timothy (Kimberlynn) Hocking of Mancelona, Thomas (Michelle) Hocking of Stanton, and John (Teresa) Hocking of Mahomet, IL, 19 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Wilbert Hocking. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 23, at Eleven a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Rev. James Hocking officiating.
