Margot Variot

Margot A. Variot, 69, of Mancelona passed away June 14, 2014 at Hiland Cottage in Petoskey. She was born October 27, 1944, in Detroit the daughter of Carl and Florence (Scribner) Ebbinghaus. Margot and her husband Joe attended Alba United Methodist Church for many years. Much of her time was spent volunteering which included the U.S.S. West Virginia Naval Reunion, Mancelona Moose Lodge #2254 and she was involved in the Red Hatters. She enjoyed traveling, crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren. On July 22, 1995 in Gross Isle she married Joseph. Also surviving are three children, Kimberly Gersin, William Martin and Wendy Brenner; four step-children, Michael Variot, Joseph (Susan) Variot, Leslie Hamilton and Matthew Variot; one sister, Sharon McInnes; many loving grandchildren, Holly (Josh), Garret, Seth, Brandon, Nathan, Samantha, Danial, Sofia, Jonathan, Jacob, Joseph, Samantha, Jessica, Infinity, Eternity, Crystal, Derek, Cody; great-grandchildren, Avery, Devin, CJ, and Shambree. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bud Ebbinghaus, Phyllis Otto and Ronald Ebbinghaus. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 17, at 12:00 Noon at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Todd Shafer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Margot's ashes will be interred at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
