Margaret “Marg” Bannan Jeakle passed away late in the evening of Dec. 27, 2015, due to pneumonia. Her beloved husband of 56 years and the families of her two children were at her bedside. All eight of her grandchildren were with her. She was at peace knowing her family was present these last few days. Family was most important to her, as a devoted wife and mother.
Marg was born in Owosso, Michigan, on Jan. 10, 1933, to Lawrence and Alice Bannan. She was one of five children. She became a nurse after training at Mount Carmel Mercy Hospital in Detroit. She had a gift for helping others, and she was committed to her church and volunteering for a variety of outreach activities. She was an award-winning quilter and enjoyed sharing her gift with those she loved.
Marg is survived by her husband Donald Jeakle, brother Joseph (Betty) Bannan, sister Mary Alice Coe, children Patrice (James) Bonner and Jim (Rebecca) Jeakle, and eight grandchildren Elizabeth, Anna, and Andrew Bonner and Madeline, Will, Molly, Noah, and Olivia Jeakle. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Bannan, and sister Joan Klier.
The funeral mass will be at noon Thursday, Dec. 31, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Charlevoix with a lunch for family and friends being held following the mass. Memorial donations in her honor may be sent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
