Margaret Julia (Hynes) Martin, age 88, passed away from cancer on July 13.
Margaret was known for her deep faith, active participation in St. Mary’s Parish and her daily walks prior to her loss of agility. Her Irish wit and authenticity were admired by close friends and family.
Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on June 8, 1935, Margaret was the youngest of five sisters raised by her mother, Anastasia, and her father, Edward, until his passing when Margaret was 11. She applied her skills in later years in psychiatric and hospice care.
In 1969, Margaret and her husband Richard relocated to Charlevoix where they built a home within view of Lake Charlevoix. She enjoyed skiing and tennis in the early years in northern Michigan, and travel with Richard to tropical destinations and abroad.
Margaret was preceded in death by Richard, her mother and father, and her four sisters, Catherine, Jane, Mary Ann and Bernadette. She is survived by her three children, Michael (Ryan), Anastasia (Michael) and Sharon (Kris), as well as four grandchildren, Julia, Jared, Alexandra and Makayla. She is also survived by her sister-in-law and childhood friend, Rosemary, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to share their appreciation for the hospice care provided by the nurses and medical technicians of AdvisaCare since Margaret’s February cancer diagnosis.
