Margaret (Peggy) E. Gallagher, 90, of Charlevoix, formerly of Lansing, passed away Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at Georgia House in Charlevoix. She was born December 28, 1925, in St. Louis, Mo. to Thomas and Margaret (Lennox) Stanton. On February 1, 1947, she married Lester J. Gallagher.
Margaret studied nursing at Saint Mary's Hospital in Grand Rapids, earning a certification as a Registered Nurse. She worked in nursing for over 40 years, retiring as a Regional Administrator for Beverly Enterprises. She loved photography, investing, reading, cooking, and was part of a Bridge Club for 40 years.
Lester preceded her in death on December 16, 1994. She is survived by her children, Thomas (Merle) Gallagher of The Villages, Fla., Mary (Michael) Rudy of Charlevoix, Lester Gallagher of Lansing, Patty (Bruce) DeRosia of Charlevoix, Ann (Andy) Luepnitz of Dewitt; grandchildren, Amy, Carrie, Adam, Kelly, Lisa, Chad, Bryan, Katie, Andy, Chris, and Lisa Renee; sisters-in-law, Mary Bradley, Betty Stanton, Rhoda Stanton; and her special friends, the Hermes, Smiths, and Killilas. Margaret was also preceded in death by her grandson, Joshua; brothers, Bob, Tom, Don, and Mark Stanton; and sister, Helen Richards.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, June 2, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Funeral mass will be at 1:30 PM, Friday, June 3, at Saint Mary's Church in Charlevoix. The Reverend Matthew Wigton will officiate. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
