Malissa Ann Long, 47, of Central Lake passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2020 at her home.  She was born on August 20, 1972 in Traverse City, MI the daughter of Chester and Loreta (Wilks) Long.

Malissa was raised in Mancelona the oldest of three girls.  She has been a lifelong resident of Northern Michigan, but she always enjoyed traveling and exploring new places.  Most recently, she had spent several weeks touring Europe.  Malissa also liked bowling, playing softball, and kayaking the clear, blue waters of Torch Lake.  She was an extremely hard-working woman, spending the last 15+ years as a chef at the Dockside on Torch Lake.  She will be dearly missed by many family members, friends, and co-workers.

Malissa is survived by her father, Chester Long of Mancelona; two sisters, Maria Beneaux (Long) of Tennessee, and Gena Aguirre-Garcia (Long) of Mancelona; four nieces, Jasmine Weaver, Autumn Latting, Whitney Weaver, and Ericka; and one nephew, Jorge Jr.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Loreta “Rita” Long.

There are no services planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, the family requests that you consider donating blood at the next blood drive in your area.
