Madalyn Buning

Madalyn Alice Buning (Chandler), 87, of Alba, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 1, 2012. She was born in Linden, Michigan on June 15, 1924 to Clara and Theodore Chandler. Madalyn was raised by Clara and her second husband Raleigh Carpenter. She was a homemaker all of her life. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband of 57 years, Sam Buning. She was also a loving and devoted mother to her 8 children. Madalyn enjoyed doing many things but nothing more than a good evening at the bingo hall. Whatever night there was a game and she had a way to get there, she would be there. Another of her favorite past times was putting jigsaw puzzles together whether it was with friends, neighbors or family. She also enjoyed a friendly cup of coffee to talk about life and other things with those same friends, family and neighbors. It also use to amaze us that she would remember everyone's birthday, especially with all the friends she had and the size of her family that was no small accomplishment. You could always expect a Happy Birthday phone call from Madalyn. That shows her kind and caring nature. Madalyn is survived by 7 children, Charles Buning of Alba, Rose (Lew) Buning Harvey of Alba, Roger (Debbie) Buning of Ferndale, Larry (Janet) Buning of Alba, Robin (Robert) Robinson of Alba, Alfred (Donna) Buning of Mancelona and David Buning of Grand Rapids. Also surviving is one brother, Donald Chandler of Tennessee. Preceding her in death are her husband Sam Buning, son Timothy (A.J.) Buning, 2 brothers Raymond and William Chandler, parents Clara and Theodore and step Father Raleigh. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, April 5, at 2 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Rev. Gerald Huffman, Rev. Sam McClellan and Robert Marsh officiating. Interment will follow in Star Township Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of service also at the funeral home.
