Mabel Roland

Anita 'Bunny' Martin Roland, 96, born April 4,1920 on an Easter Sunday (hence the nickname Bunny) and passed into the healing arms of God on October 13, 2016. She grew up in North Eastern Kansas and graduated from the University of Kansas School of Nursing in 1941. She met and married Hubert Martin a 4th year medical student. She always said he was the "love of her life". After WWII ended Hubert and Bunny settled in Coffeyville, KS where Hubert had grown up. They set about establishing Hubert's medical practice and becoming a part of the Coffeyville Community and raising their family. Bunny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and friend. Her beloved husband, Hubert, died in 1961 leaving a large void in her life but she endeavored to fulfill his expectations; raising their children to be independent, hardworking, productive members of their communities. Bunny loved the game of Golf, was the Coffeyville Country Club Champion a number of years and a member of the "Hole in One" Club. She was also an accomplished Bridge Player, gardener, and a self taught financial investor. Bunny would also want to be remembered for her deep love for dogs, cats, birds and all animals needing caring homes and protection. She is survived by her four children Dr. David Martin, Stewart Martin, Scott Martin, and Anita Uden. Their spouses Jane, Linda, Joanne, and Doug. Seven Grandchildren, Jenny, Jason, Natalie, Adam, Alex, Scott, and Katie; and, eleven Great Grandchildren. A private family Memorial is planned in Coffeyville on Nov 19. In lieu of flowers Memorials to The Humane Society of the United States or to a favorite Animal Protection Agency. Arrangements have been handled by the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
