M. Jones

Mellissa "Marie" Jones, 98, of Bellaire, formerly of Alba, died Sun. Aug. 21, 2011 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born Nov. 16, 1912 in Allegan County, the daughter of Alonzo and Orpha (Helsel) Morris. On Nov. 27, 1930 in Mancelona, she married Walter Willis Jones, Sr. Marie was a homemaker most of her life. She served as the Star Twp. Treasurer for 19 years. Marie enjoyed crocheting, reading, playing cards, church, visiting people and volunteering at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She is survived by her daughter Suella Jones of Nahallum, OR, daughter in-law Pat Colvin of Traverse City, Vivian Jones of Alba, 3 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her husband Walter, her daughter Norma Jones and her sons Walter "Bud" Jones Jr. and William Jones, her parents and all her siblings. Graveside services will be held Sat. Aug. 27, at 3 pm at the Star Twp. Cemetery, Alba. Arrangements have been handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
