Lynn Kay Hodgkinson, 67, of Charlevoix, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, December 9, 2024. She was born on June 15, 1957, in Sandusky, OH, the daughter of Thomas Sr. and Betty Jean (Meehan) Hodgkinson.
Lynn graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1975, and shortly after began working at Charlevoix Area Hospital. She was employed there for approximately a year before taking a job at Petoskey Plastics, where she stayed for nearly 15 years. She then started her own housekeeping business, and cleaned homes in the area for many years. She also frequently attended Sunday services at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Petoskey
Lynn was an excellent hostess, never turning down the opportunity to invite friends and family over to enjoy a home cooked meal. She was also well known for her delicious baked goods which were made in massive batches during the holidays. She had a knack for striking up a conversation even with a complete stranger, and would help people out any chance she could. Lynn enjoyed traveling back to her roots in Ohio to visit with family and friends. She was loved and adored by many, and will be deeply missed.
Lynn is survived by her three sons, Johnny Marquardt of Petoskey, David Marquardt (Darlene Kiser) of Alanson, and Randy Marquardt of Petoskey; her granddaughter, Amber Marquardt; two brothers, Tom Jr. (Donna) Hodgkinson, and Gary Hodgkinson of Conway; and her brother-in-law Jeff Himebauch of East Jordan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Sandy Himebauch.
A celebration of Lynn’s life will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 16, 2024 at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at 2:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her son to help with funeral expenses; David Marquardt, 9129 Miller Rd., Alanson, MI 49706.
