Luella “Lou” Cole, 83, of Mancelona, passed away on February 16, 2019 at her home.
Lou was born on November 24, 1935, in Grayling , the daughter of Richard and Annabelle (Peathers) Thompson.
Lou and her late husband Bob, owned and operated the RC and GO retail store in Mancelona for over 20 years. She was a long time, active member of the Mancelona United Methodist Church. Besides her love of church, she enjoyed spending time with her family as well as reading.
She is survived by 4 children, Robert (Shirley) Davenport of Kalkaska, Doris (Tom) Schultz of OR, Scott (Barb) Davenport of Mancelona, Ann Cole of TN, 2 step-children, Michael (Shirley) Cole, of Traverse City, Marsha Cole of Kingsley, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, 2 sisters, Pat Failing of Grayling, Kay Earich of Grand Blanc as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Cole, her parents, and a brother Donald “Pork Chop” Thompson.
Funeral services will take place on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona United Methodist Church with Pastors Todd Shafer and Bryan Kilpatrick both officiating.
Burial will take place in the spring in Fairview Cemetery, Mancelona.
Visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
In Lou (lieu) of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mancelona United Methodist Church.
