Lucian Keil, 69 of Mancelona, was called by the Lord to his eternal home on Thursday, February 12, 2015 at McLaren Northern Michigan Regional Hospital. Lucian was born on August 5, 1945, in Hamtramck, MI, the son of Elton and Helen (Flasinski) Keil. Lucian graduated from Redford High School in 1964 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan in 1975. He was employed by General Motors as an Industrial Psychologist for a few years, then became a real estate investor and professional photographer and graphic designer up until his passing. Lucian resided in Mancelona for the past 20 years and was a member of the Mancelona DDA for many years. He had many enjoyments in his life including being an airplane pilot, photography, collecting model trains, remote helicopters, astronomy, gardening, and was a well known local artist. He also loved to snorkel in Michigan's inland lakes. Lucian proudly served the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era. He loved life, was a very sentimental man who loved his family and family get togethers. Was known as "Fahzer" to his children. On September 22, 1990, he married Lorraine Andrews who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Deanna (Scott) Falletich of Mancelona, Lesley (Kevin) Kohler of Boyne City, two grandchildren, Kira and Aiden Kohler as well as a brother Ronald Chodacki of Brighton, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will take place on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 12:30 p.m. at the Pathway Community Church in Mancelona. Pastor Dan Grimes will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pathway Community Church. Arrangements are being handled by the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
