Louis J. Hollow of Charlevoix, Mich., passed away peacefully at his winter home in Venice, Fla. on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the age of 85.

Lou was a veteran of United States Air Force. He received his BA from The University of Detroit and Master's in finance from the University of Michigan. He married Barbara Hollow in 1953, with whom he had five children. He began his banking career at National Bank of Detroit and moved to Charlevoix in 1973, where he served as the President of First State Bank of Charlevoix and later was the founder and CEO of Charlevoix State Bank. He retired in 2000.

Lou was an active member of Charlevoix community. He was a Charlevoix Yacht Club member & commodore; member of committees for Michigan Bankers Association; past president & board member of First State Bank of Charlevoix; retired president & founding board member of Charlevoix State Bank; board member of North Country Community Mental Health; Charlevoix Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year; member of St. Mary's Catholic Church; board member of Charlevoix County Foundation; longtime member of Charlevoix Lions Club; president of Charlevoix Hospital board.

He appreciated the beauty of the northwest where he enjoyed sailing, skating, running and reading.

Louis is survived by his sister, Elise Divian; son, Mark (Mary) Hollow; daughters, Deborah (Steve) Trent, Karen (Bob) Sussman, Lori Hollow, and Michele (Mark) O'Donoghue; and many loving grandchildren nieces, nephews and extended family. Louis was a loving father, grandfather and friend to all.

Memorial for Lou Hollow , will be Saturday, August 13 2016, 10:30am, with coffee and scones afterwards. White tent on Ferry Avenue, across from Northwest Marine Yacht Club and on the bottom lawn of Marina Bluff, 1030 Ferry Ave. Parking on Ferry Avenue or at Ferry Beach.
