Lorraine E. Hinzmann, 92 of Torch Lake Twp., died peacefully, Sat. Aug. 3, 2013 at Hope Village in Williamsburg. She was born Aug. 28, 1920 in Detroit, the daughter of Frederick and Ida (Schimantowski) Ewald. Lorraine was an active member of the United Methodist Church. She loved walking in the woods, watching the birds and enjoying the trees. She also loved little children. An avid traveler, Lorraine and her husband Otto visited all 50 states and all the providences of Canada except Nova Scotia. Lorraine was a hard worker and was dedicated to enriching the lives of her family. Surviving are her children Otto (Patricia) of Northville, Harry (Barbara) of Traverse City, Frederic (Maryann) of Atwood, Mark (Renee) of Petoskey, Shann (Timothy) Louis of Kewadin, sister Dolores (Joseph) Trottier, 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. On June 26, 1942 in Detroit, she married Otto G. Hinzmann, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded by 2 brothers Harry and Clarence Ewald, and 2 sisters Florence Maruszewski and Shirley Tyler. Funeral services will be held Sat. Aug. 10, at 11 a.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Rick Stewart officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Torch Lake Twp. The family will receive friends Fri. Aug.9, from 5 to 8 p.m. and before the service on Saturday, also at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be directed to the Salvation Army or the Good Samaritan in Ellsworth.
