Lois “Barb” Compton, 84, of Bellaire, passed away on July 27, 2017 at her home.
Barb was born on March 14, 1933 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Lawrence and Lillian (Grue) Coleman.
Barb was employed for the State of Michigan for over 33 years retiring in 1988.
She enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and spending time with her dog Patches.
She is survived by three children, Steven “Michael” Compton of Bellaire, Shelly McDonald of Central Lake, John Compton of Sarasota, FL, two sisters, Peg Lennon of Traverse City, Diane (Ken) Robinson of LaPeer, 6 grandchildren, Vernon and Jenee’ Robert, Nick (Amber Verellen) McDonald, Mike (Emily) Compton, Bryce Compton, Layne Compton, 3 great-grandchildren, Henry, Jackson and Bentley as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Stephen Compton in 1998, a daughter Rosemarie Compton, brother Lawrence Grue, a sister Mary Gramer as well as her beloved dog Patches.
Barbs family would like to thank her caregivers Gretchen Hicks, Jenny Simonsen and Jenee’ Robert for all they have done in the recent years
Private family services will take place. She will be buried in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township, MI.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bellaire Area Senior Center.
