Lois Wood

Lois Joy Wood, 95, of Charlevoix, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at her home surrounded by loved ones.  She was born on August 15, 1926 in Detroit, MI, the daughter of Carl and Bernice (Sinicki) Housler.

Lois graduated from Cass Tech High School in 1944, and shortly thereafter, she married the love of her life, Stuart E. Wood.  They raised their family together in Bloomfield Hills before making Charlevoix their home over 30 years ago.  Lois mainly took care of the home and her children, but she also found the time to put her artistic abilities to work selling her watercolor artwork as well as doing some advertising work.

When they were living downstate, Lois was a quiet philanthropist in the community; she volunteered her time at the community pool, their church, and several other areas, but she never wanted the recognition.  She would also spend countless hour knitting caps and blankets for those less fortunate.  Lois loved her grandchildren dearly and cherished each moment she was able to spend with them.

Lois is survived by two children, Carol (David) Peterson of Birmingham and Doug (Whitney) Wood of Birmingham; seven grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) McGovern, Stuart (Cristina) Peterson, Alyssa Wood (fiancé Kevin Kritzman), Shannon Wood, Joseph Peterson, Jacob Peterson, and Katelyn (Michael) Tenerelli; and three great-grandchildren, Matilda, Zachary, and Anthony.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Stuart Wood; her brother, Harry Housler; and her sister, Barbara Wendell.
