LEWIS W. BEARINGER 87, of Grawn, died Saturday, September 8, 2007 at home. Lewis was born April 17, 1920 in Grand Rapids, the son of Willard and Eva (Barnes) Bearinger. He was raised in Central Lake and moved to Traverse City in 1948 after serving in the United States Army in the Pacific Theatre. He was a life member of the Torch Post VFW #6985. Lewis owned and operated the Acme Office Equipment Company for many years and also worked for the Acme Office Supply Company and retired from the Kenmar Office Supply Company. He was a long time member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Traverse City and was a District Leader for the Scenic Trails Boy Scouts of America as well as Scout Leader, Organization and Extension Chairman. On June 28, 1952 in Manistee he married Phyllis Mason who preceded him in death in 2000. Also preceding him in death was a sister Jesse and a half brother Alexander McCauly. Surviving are four children, Carl A., Louise A. (Jeff) Shamroe, Ivan L. (Michelle) all of Traverse City, Blair D. (Sandra) of Rives Junction, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters in law Suzanna Defever of Anchorville, and Natalie (Richard) Callesen of Manistee. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2007 at One p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes under the auspices of the Torch Post VFW #6985 and the Cherryland Post #2780. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Twp. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to the Munson Hospice House, 1105 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684 or the VFW National Home for Children, 3673 S. Waverly Rd., Eaton Rapids, MI 48827
