LETA I. LUCHENBILL, 74, of Kewadin, died on July 25, 2010 at her home. Leta was born on March 9, 1936 in Detroit, the daughter of Benjamin and Ilah (Eckles) Holcomb. Leta was a resident of Kewadin since 1964 where she and her late husband Lyle owned and operated Maple Acres, Inc. She enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, animals and making maple syrup. On March 6, 1959 she married Lyle Luchenbill who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were a sister Marge Shoemaker and a grandson Timothy Luchenbill. Surviving are 4 children, Toni Kingsley-Culbreath of Kewadin, Chris (Charlotte) Luchenbill of Kewadin, Kim Luchenbill of Kewadin, Mick (Sheri) Luchenbill of Central Lake, a brother Frank (Mary Jane) Holcomb of Denison, TX., 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will take place on Thursday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Rev. Bill Amundsen will officiate. Visitation will take place on Wed. from 5-8 p.m. and also on Thur. from noon until the time of services at 2 p.m. Private burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City.
