Leona “Peggy” Waffle-Clark, 89, of Ellsworth, passed away on September 12, 2017 at Grandvue Medical Care Facility in East Jordan.
Peggy was born on January 31, 1928, in Ellsworth, the daughter of Arthur and Nellie (Fales) Carpenter.
Peggy was an Ellsworth resident her entire life and owned and operated “Peggy’s Putter Room” where she taught over 100 students the art of painting and ceramics. She also started the Golden Nugget in Ellsworth and ran it along with her late husband Leo.
She enjoyed traveling, and through the years she got to see several foreign countries.
She is survived by her husband Bill Clark of Ellsworth, three children, Butch Waffle of Central Lake, Patti Strange of Central Lake, Sally (Robert) Nolan of MA, 5 grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey, Sonya, Stephanie and Todd, 9 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her first husband Leo Waffle, two daughters, Geraldine Grace, Susan Marie, three brothers, Doyle, Calvin, William Carpenter, sister Gloria Carpenter as well as her parents.
Funeral services will take place on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. LouAnne Reed will officiate.
Visitation will be on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Burial will be on Monday, September 18 at 2 p.m. in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake Township.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
