Lawrence F. Kalchik, 84, of Bellaire, died on March 23, 2010 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Larry was born on April 15, 1925 in Northport, Michigan, the son of Wencil and Barbara (Korson) Kalchik. Larry had resided in Bellaire since 1952 moving from Suttons Bay. His greatest love in his life was his farm. He owned and operated the Kalchik Farm in Bellaire for many years and was a long time member of St. Luke Catholic Church. On September 11, 1948 in Suttons Bay, he married Joanne S. Belanger who survives. Also surviving are 5 children, Ginger Kelly (Steve Schorling) of Colorado Springs, CO, Judy (Doug) Ettema of Bellaire, Steve (Sylvia Schonauer) Kalchik of Battle Creek, Jeff (Deb Karger) Kalchik of Cannon Falls, MN, Meg (Dave) Zuern of Avon Lake, OH, 6 grandchildren Kristin Atkinson, Jill Ettema, Andrew Kalchik, Kevin Kalchik, Olivia Zuern, Claire Zuern, a sister Ann Callaghan of Blue Earth, MN, 3 brothers Edward (Anne) Kalchik of Northport, Ivan Kalchik of Traverse City, and Victor (Ruth) Kalchik of Lake Leelanau. He was preceded in death by 4 siblings, Wencil, Mary, Christine, Tony, as well as his parents. A Funeral Mass will take place on Sat. March 27, 2010 at Eleven a.m. at St. Luke Catholic Church in Bellaire. Fr. James Gardiner and Fr. Paul Kalchik will officiate. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. The family will receive friends Friday, March 26, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke Catholic Church.
