Lavona "Bonnie" Lillian Disbrow Lewis

Lavona (Bonnie) Disbrow Lewis, 105 of Central Lake, peacefully passed away, January 6, 2025 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Lavona was born April 7, 1919 in Central Lake, Michigan to Emil and Inez Corner. 

 She is survived by her brother Victor Corner, son Wallace (Susan) Disbrow, daughter Mary Ellen Parker, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands Leon Disbrow and Walter Lewis, brothers Harry and Dale Corner, sister Audrey Adams, daughters Shirley Stoel and Shelby Eggleston, grandson Donavan Eggleston and granddaughter Missy Eggleston.

 Leon Disbrow and Bonnie married on May 7, 1935 and raised their four children during the depression in Central Lake. Bonnie became very active in the Rebekah Lodge and was a past president of District #18. She worked as a waitress for 15 years and enjoyed bowling, card games, playing the saxophone and dancing.

 Later in life, she married Walter Lewis and resided in Bellaire. One highlight of her life was a trip to Alaska on a cruise ship. She would often share of her experience with others. She could often be found at the Senior Center where she would have lunch, play bingo and Euchre. Bonnie looked forward to and was always ready to go on the Senior Center’s bus trips.

 Visitation will take place Friday, January 10 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A Celebration of Life will be held in the early summer. 

 Interment will take place in Southern Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made in her memory to the Bellaire Senior Center, PO BOX 614, Bellaire, MI 49615.
