Lauramae Berthume

Lauramae M. Berthume, 91, of Central Lake, passed away on September 27, 2014 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. Lauramae was born on September 16, 1923, in Saginaw, MI, the daughter of Lloyd and Elizabeth (Wenzel) McFadden. Lauramae was a Central Lake resident since 1971 and was bartender at Coyne's Corner Bar for over 16 years. Following bartending, she went on to work at Burger King in Charlevoix. She was an avid sports fan, she enjoyed hunting, fishing, sewing and was known as "Grandma" to many kids in the area. On March 6, 1943, in Saginaw, she married Charles Berthume who preceded her in death in 1996. Also preceding her in death were a son John Berthume, two brothers, Wilbur and Gene McFadden as well as her parents. She is survived by a daughter Suzi Duby of Central Lake, 5 grandchildren, Char (Gary) Duby) of Mancelona, Vicky (Greg) Hardy of Central Lake, Christy (Ken) Almond of San Diego, CA, John (Aileen) Berthume of San Diego, CA, Mary (Brad Fox) Duby of Buckley, as well as 11 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes, Pastor Gary Bekkering officiating. Visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of services on Wednesday. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw.
