Laura Skaggs

Laura Lee Skaggs, 72, of Mancelona, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021.  She was born on September 4, 1949 in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of Lloyd and Josephine (Warner) Irish.

Laura worked for many years at the Grand Traverse Resort and Shanty Creek Resorts.  She loved to spend time with her grandchildren.  When she had free time, she enjoyed ‘paint-by-numbers’, reading, and collecting knick-knacks, especially turquoise jewelry.

Laura is survived by her five children, Nicole (Eli) Hittle, Shawn Peck, Dallas Peck, Travis Skaggs (Cheyanne Emery), and Cheyenne Skaggs; step-son, Kenny Kicklighter; and grandchildren, Stacy, Kimberly, Pete, Eli, Melissa, Sarah, Robert, Becky, Zach, Lucas, Riley, Alexia, Jazmine, Cady, Amber, Maya, Sophie, and several others.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elmer Skaggs; her daughter, Amanda Rutkowski; her brother, Claude; and her sister Pam Grody.

Her family has chosen to celebrate her life privately.
