Laufey "Libby" Rasmussen

Laufey “Libby” Rasmussen, 90, of Charlevoix, died Thurs. Aug. 10, 2017 at Boulder Park Terrace.

She was born Nov. 27, 1926 in Iceland, the daughter of Ingvar and Ingibjorg (Johannesdottir) Sorensen and moved to America at the young age of 18 with her husband Bill Rasmussen.

Libby was a caretaker for Tyrrells Cabins in Atwood for many years. She loved helping people and was an active volunteer with the American Red Cross. Libby enjoyed sewing, knitting, baking and fishing.  She also enjoyed line dancing and traveling.  Libby was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Charlevoix and a faithful Christian, saying the rosary daily.

Left to cherish her memory are her children Mary Spencer and John Rasmussen both of San Diego, CA, Jean (Bill) Ayers of FL, Jim (Cathy) Rasmussen of Davison, MI, Jerry (Janet) Rasmussen of Ellsworth, Karen (Les) Lugibihl of Charlevoix, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her daughter Nancy, husband Bill, and her parents.

Memorial services will be held in Davison in the spring.  Memorial contributions can be given to St. Mary Catholic Church, 1003 Bridge St., Charlevoix, MI 49720.
