Larry Rusnell

Larry P. Rusnell, 77, of Alba, died peacefully, Fri. Feb. 13, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at Charlevoix Area Hospital. He was born Mar. 19, 1937, in Petoskey, the son of Erford and Iola (Park) Rusnell. Larry graduated from Alba High School in 1955 and proudly served in the US Army. He happily retired from the Antrim County Road Commission after 38 years of dedicated service. Larry enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing, and traveling. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family too. On Sept. 9, 1961 in Alba, Larry married the love of his life, Valeria Olds, who survives. He is also survived by his daughters Kellie (Kevin) McPhail of Bellaire, Karen (Mitch) Gates of Alba, sister Marquita Bowen, grandchildren and great grandchildren Derek (Jayne), Eva and Johnathan Larry Gates of Gulf Port, Mississippi, Kristen (Corey) Russell of Traverse City, Jeremy (Meggan), Kaiden and Jayden Gates of Alba, Keegan McPhail of Bellaire and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Rusnell. Funeral services will be held Tues. Feb. 17 at 1 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Todd Shafer officiating. The family will receive friends Mon. Feb. 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. also at the funeral home.
