Larry Nicholson

Larry Lee Nicholson, 77, of Mancelona, passed away on July 22, 2024, at home. He was born on February 2, 1947, in Alva, OK, the son of Leon and Vola (Veley) Nicholson.

 Larry was a quiet man with a heart of gold. He was a mechanic by trade at Haliburton until retired and made the career change in 1999 to become a Security Guard at Turtle Creek Casino. Throughout life he loved being a mechanic and working on cars, even down to the paint job. He was a workaholic, and enjoyed keeping busy on any small project he could find. Larry was a dedicated husband, father, employee and co-worker. Regardless if he was sick or not, Larry always made it a point to make it into work. His favorite time in life was spending time with his loving wife, Carolyn, and his three children. 

Surviving Larry in death is his wife Carolyn, three children, Shawn (Meg) Nicholson of Oxford, MI, Jason (Cassandra) Nicholson of Flint, MI, Amanda (Ben) Mitchell of Traverse City, MI, four grandchildren, Cecelia Nicholson, Charlotte Nicholson, Coraline Nicholson, Elliot Nicholson, one great-grandson, Caio Saez.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 1, from 5-7pm at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A Memorial Service will be held at 7pm, following the visitation.
