Kirk Kresin Wilson, 60, of Norwood, died unexpectedly Monday, April 11, 2016, in Charlevoix. He was born May 8, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minn. To Kenneth and Alice (Kresin) Wilson. Kirk served in the US Coast Guard from 1973 to 1977, aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Sundew stationed in Charlevoix. He worked for Irish Boat Shop in Charlevoix for twenty-seven years as a Master Marine Technician, retiring on October 30, 2015.
Kirk enjoyed northern Michigan and enjoyed living in Norwood. He was active in the Norwood Historical Society, loved spending time at the lake with his wife and their two canines Taz and Bud, camping, kayaking, and riding his Harley.
On August 23, 2014, he married Michele L. (Bateson) Bratcher and she survives. Kirk is survived by his stepsons, Nicolas and Chris Bratcher; brother, Eric (Iliana) Wilson; sister, Kathy (Neil) Sell; and his father, Kenneth Wilson. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law, Sherri (Mac) Cahill, Betty (Andy) Fritz; brothers-in-law, Roger (Kelly) Bateson, Scott (Frankie) Bateson.
A gathering of Kirk's family and friends is planned for this summer.
