Kathryn Lynn Altrock, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother passed away June 25 at the age of 64. She was surrounded by her family at her home in Mancelona. She was born March 4, 1950 in Mancelona, the daughter of Curt and Irene Patrick. Kathy was raised in Mancelona and graduated in 1968. She was a passionate advocate for the community of Mancelona. She served 2 terms as the village president and also served on many boards including Village Council, Mancelona Area Water and Sewer Authority, Downtown Development Authority, Northern Lake Economic Alliance, Community Resource Development, and Bass Festival Planning Committee. In addition, Kathy coached Little League when her sons were younger. Most recently, she enjoyed working as a sales clerk at Bellaire L & R Hardware. Kathy was a member of the Antrim Church of Christ and took great pleasure in her study with the women's bible group. She adored spending time with family and friends, playing cards, traveling, reading, and cooking. On May 11, 1979 in Bellaire, she married Nick Altrock who survives. Also surviving are her children, Ronald (Anne) Smith of Gaylord, Bill (Crystal) Smith of Mancelona; grandchildren, Jakob, Owen, Kael, and Presley Smith; step-children, Stephanie Altrock of Mt. Carmel, IL, Nick (Darci) Altrock of Howell; step-grandchildren, Nicole and Randy Stolowoski and Gage and Graham Altrock; siblings, Harold Patrick of Alexandria, VA, Gerald Patrick of Mancelona, Judy Payne of Ovid, Midge (Mike) Osborne of Mancelona, Helen (Skip) Newman of Traverse City, Susan Mathes of Mancelona, Richard Patrick of Mancelona, Jim (Sheila) Patrick of Lansing; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will be greatly missed by many. She was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael Smith, sister, Patricia Patrick, and parents, Curt and Irene Patrick. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, July 5 at 2 p.m. at the Antrim Church of Christ with Pastor Mark McCool officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 p.m. until the time of services. A luncheon will immediately follow.
