Katherine Sneathen

Katherine M. (Feick) Sneathen, age 90, of Charlevoix, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022 at Boulder Park Terrace in Charlevoix.  She was born October 24, 1932, in Alanson, Michigan to the late, John and Ernestine (Collins) Feick.

Katherine graduated from Alanson High School with the class of 1951.  Then, she went on to study and become an X-Ray Technician at Little Traverse Hospital in Petoskey, and later worked at the Charlevoix Hospital.

On November 6, 1953, Katherine married Franklin (Frank) Sneathen and devoted herself to their children and their farm in Hayes Township. Katherine filled her days helping with the farm work, tending the extensive garden, cooking, and baking. No one that ever worked on the farm will forget the noon meals and deserts Katherine was known for.

Katherine was happiest spending time with her children and grandchildren, sewing, doing needle work or craft projects, or just sitting reading a good book with a cat on her lap.

She is survived by three children, Linda (John) Legard of North Muskegon, John (Carol) Sneathen of Charlevoix, Patty (Gunnar) Samson of Williamston; her grandchildren: Jason (Alison Bubnis) and Michael Legard of North Muskegon, and Alexandra (Adam) Fehnel of East Weymouth, Massachusetts; and her great granddaughter Lauren Legard.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Sneathen, her brothers Henry and Harvey Feick, and her niece Kathleen Feick.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Boulder Park for the care and compassion they have shown Katherine.

Per Katherine’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family burial will be held.  Her remains will be buried with her husband at Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey, Michigan.

Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.  To send a message of sympathy to the family, sign Katherine’s online guest book, or to share a memory, please visit: www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
