Katherine Klooster

Katherine H. Klooster,  96, of Banks Township, passed away on September 18, 2020 at home.

She was born on October 15, 1923 in Banks Township, the daughter of Ralph and Anna (Hoogerheide) Sitzema.

On March 27, 1943 she married Versile Klooster at the home of her parents in Banks Township.  They made their home on the Klooster Farm in Banks Township and had 4 children.

Katherine was a long time member of the Belltower Reformed Church, and loved flowers and birds, especially hummingbirds.  She also enjoyed fishing with friends on Drummond Island.

She is survived by 2 children, Ray (Carol) Klooster of Leesburg, FL, Jerry (Louise) Klooster of Ellsworth, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Versile Klooster, infant daughter Sally Klooster, daughter Marcia Klooster, brothers, Ralph “Bud” Sitzema, Harm Sitzema, James Sitzema, Marion Sitzema, sisters, Agnes Klooster, Jennie Niemeyer, Marie Doty, brother-in-law John Klooster, and sister-in-law Julia Sage.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Belltower Reformed Church in Ellsworth.  Rev. James Heneveld will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Atwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of services also at the church.

In lieu of flowers,  donations may be made to the Belltower Reformed Church.

Arrangements are being handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
