Katherine Ann Bradfield

Katherine Ann Bradfield, 80, of Elk Rapids, passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 surrounded by her family.  She was born Sept. 13, 1942 in Detroit the daughter of Stanley and Mazie (Baker) Cempura.

   Kathy was a hardworking, dedicated owner and operator of the Town Club Bar and Restaurant in Elk Rapids for 34 years with her husband James.  They were avid sports fans especially for all the Detroit Pro Teams and loved watching golf too.  Many times they traveled to Las Vegas too.

   Playing Bingo was one of Kathy’s favorite past times and Christmas was her favorite holiday.  She went all out with gifts, decorations, and holiday cheer! She never missed her kids’ games and events and she loved her children’s spouses tremendously!  Kathy also enjoyed knitting and crocheting, especially making blankets for all her grandchildren. She had a strong faith and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

   Surviving are her children Michael (Mary) Bradfield of Kewadin, Colleen (Don) Fudge of Durham, CT, Suzanne (Dean) Johnson of Ft. Myers, FL, James (Lisa) Bradfield of Traverse City, Dugan (Kim) Bradfield of Old Mission Peninsula, Kathy (Casey) Penfold of Central Lake, sister Nancy Pilut of Pinkney, 22 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren with one on the way, 4 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

    She was preceded by her husband James David Bradfield, daughter Debra “Debbie” Lundy on May 24, 2023, brother Robert Cempura, brother-in-law Larry Pilut and her parents.

   Visitation will be Monday, June 5th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Elk Rapids, with a Vigil for the Deceased at 7 p.m.  Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 6th with Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding also at the church with interment to follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.  The family will again receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

   Memorial contributions can be given to Katherine Bradfield Memorial Fund at Alden State Bank.
