June Griffore

June A. Griffore, 79, of Mancelona, passed away September 20, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 15, 1934 in Mancelona, the daughter of Lloyd and Marion Lockman.

June was a blessing to her family as well as to many in her community. She was gifted with a variety of artistic talents and spent her entire life using them for the good of others. She was an artist, a seamstress, a beautician and an expert in craft work. She always put others before herself, making certain that they were loved and well taken care of. Even in her last days, children brought her much happiness; no child was ever a stranger, but rather seen as one of her own. June made it her life's goal to cover the hands of many of the communities children by making gloves during the winter months. June was gentle but honest. She taught the virtues of life, how to think, to appreciate traditions and how to love others. In addition to her handy work, June enjoyed visiting the family lake house, taking care of her flower garden, canning delicious peaches, and visiting with friends & family. She was also a member and volunteer at St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

She is survived by four sons, Randy (Cathy) Griffore of Mancelona, Marty Griffore of Mancelona, Scott (Brenda) Griffore of Mancelona, Anthony Griffore of Pennsylvania; three daughters, Angela (Ed) Wilson of Hudsonville, Anita Alm of Mancelona, and Andrea (Phil) Griffore of Mancelona; Eleven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Pucky" Griffore who died on November 1, 2000; three sons, infant sons, George Lindale Griffore, Jr. and Louis Walter Griffore, and twenty-one year old son, Bryan Mark Griffore who died on June 24, 1979

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Dale Magoon officiating. The burial will immediately follow the service at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Antrim County Baby Pantry or to St. Anthony Catholic Church. The Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes is handling the arrangements. Please sign June's guestbook at www.mortensenfuneralhomes.com
