June Couse

JUNE J. COUSE, 96, of Charlevoix, Michigan died August 11 at her home. June was born November 14, 1920 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, daughter of Howard and Grace Jeffords. She married Donald S. Couse on August 6, 1941 in Dubuque, Iowa. They resided in Manitowoc, WI before moving to Charlevoix in 1967. June enjoyed tennis and golf and the dear friends she made playing the sports that she loved. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was a longtime member of the Charlevoix Garden Club. Her loving husband, Don preceded her in death in 2004. She was also preceded in death by her daughters Sharon Herman of Manitowoc and Diane Boos of Glendale, Arizona and her sister Bette Roughen of Fond du Lac, WI. She is survived by her son-in-law Michael Boos of Glendale, AZ, 6 grandchildren: Dean McPherson, Sheboygan, WI; Melissa Feasler (Timothy), Manhattan, KS; Andrea Welch (Steven), Madison, WI; Heather Parrish, Eden Prairie, MN; Pamela Graham (Kirk), Goodyear, AZ; and Christopher Boos (Karissa), Buckeye, AZ; 8 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. June was a strong and fiercely independent woman, who defied labels; a force of nature, who made everyone around her more alive and aware. The world is a far less interesting place without her.
