June Borst

June M. Borst, 90, of Alba, passed away on October 4, 2015 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. June was born on June 17, 1925, in Alba, the daughter of Ward and Maud (Lifer) Strickland. June was a lifelong resident of Alba. Her greatest joy was going to watch her grandchildren's ballgames. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, helping with the Alba Sportsman Club breakfasts and also spent several years as the Chestonia Township Treasurer. She was an avid Detroit Tigers and Detroit Pistons Fan. She is survived by 6 children, Marlene (Gary) Bowen of Mancelona, Mick Borst of Gaylord, Clarice (Robert) Beckner, of Lake City, Sonja (Lynn) Handrich of Fairview, Peggy (Christopher) Botens of Waters, John (Marlayna) Borst of Mancelona, a sister Ardath Norton of Alba as well as 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband John I. Borst, 3 brothers, Don, Keith, and Ernest Strickland as well as her parents. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, October 10 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Carol Haynes officiating. Visitation will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Star Township Cemetery, Alba.
