Judith Anne Probert, 84, of Charlevoix, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 4, 2023 with her family at her side. She was born on January 19, 1939, in Pontiac, MI, the daughter of Guy and Norah (Spencer) Harrell.
Judith graduated from Waterford High School ,and furthered her education at Eastern Michigan University, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. On March 17, 1956, she married the love of her life, Norman Probert, in Pontiac, MI. They moved to Charlevoix permanently in 1970. She taught for several years at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Charlevoix and then worked for many years in East Jordan teaching kindergarten and 3rd grade. Judith enjoyed reading and helping Norman any way she could with his role as the wrestling coach in Charlevoix. She and Norman loved to travel together; they visited all 50 states, and took trips to Tahiti, Aruba, New Zealand, Australia, and many others.
Judith is survived by two children, Terri (Michael) Hodge of Charlevoix, and Gary (Barbara) Probert of Orlando, FL; three brothers, Jerry (Diane) Harrell of Goodrich, MI, Jeffrey (Dawn) Harrell of Hadley, MI, and John (Candace) Harrell of Ortonville, MI; two sisters, Janet Davidson of Lapeer, MI, and Jenny (Tim) McKinney of Hadley, MI; four grandchildren, Tricia (Paul) Howard of Charlevoix, Jerred (Kara) Hodge of Charlevoix, Heather (Mike) Rinaldi of Minneola, FL, and Brett Probert of Orlando, FL; two great-grandchildren, Grayson and Clara; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Norman E. Probert; and her niece, Kristi Sindelar.
Celebration of Life memorial will be held Friday, May 19,2023 at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Visitation starts at 11:00, memorial service at 12:00 and graveside burial following the service. There will be appetizers and a buffet dinner held at the Argonne in Charlevoix.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or Friends of the Charlevoix Public Library, 220 West Clinton Street, Charlevoix, Michigan 49720.
