Juanita E. Standley, 88, died February 19, 2017, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility, Bellaire, Michigan, where she had been a resident for several years.
Juanita was born April 18, 1928, to Orville and Laura (Cooper) Smallwood in Wayne County, Kentucky. She grew up in the Quincy, Michigan, area and was a graduate of Quincy High School.
On March 24, 1951, she married Richard M. Standley, who predeceased her, and they spent most of their married life in Jackson, Michigan. She worked for several years for the Jackson County Intermediate School District until her retirement in the early 1980's.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Hilda Kresnak) Standley of Rockport, Texas, and Ronald (Sherry Litchford) Standley of Kernersville, North Carolina; three grandchildren, Paul (Tiffany) Standley of Greeley, Colorado, Anna (Chase) Meadors of San Antonio, Texas, and Justin Standley of High Point, North Carolina. She is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Standley of High Point, North Carolina, and she was anticipating the birth of a great-grandson early this summer. Also surviving Juanita is her sister, Willa Gallup, of Coldwater, Michigan, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Juanita was preceded in death by a sister, Opal King, of Coldwater, Michigan, and a brother, James Smallwood, of Riverside, California.
Funeral services will take place Saturday, February 25, at 1 pm at Quincy United Methodist Church, 32 W. Chicago Street, Quincy, MI 49082. Visitation will begin at 11 am. Interment will follow in Sunset View Cemetery, Jonesville, Michigan.
