Joyce Wilks

Joyce A. Wilks, 82, of Bellaire, passed away on March 24, 2017 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on July 31, 1934, in Mancelona, the daughter of Richard and Matye (Meadows) LaKies. Joyce was employed with Bellaire Family Dentistry, as office manager for 19 years, retiring in 1989. She enjoyed traveling, casino trips, trips to Wart Lake in Ontario, Canada as well as wintering in Florida. She also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. On July 17, 1954, in Mancelona, she married George Wilks who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Tami (Craig) Baclich of Bellaire, Rich (Denise) Wilks of Central Lake, Rhonda Wilks-Arndt of Bellaire, Lolly (Don) Balon of Bellaire, 5 grandchildren, Brad (Trista) Lennox, Patrick Lennox, Rian Marie (Chris) Sanford, Ross (Abby) Arndt, Johnathan (Logan) Balon, 6 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild with one on the way, 2 sisters, Sue Ann (Fred) Johnson of Dexter, MI, Natalie Miller of Traverse City as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister Marylee and a nephew Arthur. Private graveside services will take place at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
