Joyce Seaman, 89 of Alden, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2016 with her children at her side after a short illness. Joyce was born August 9, 1927 in Newton, Kansas. She graduated from Newton High and attended nursing school. Joyce worked several jobs throughout her lifetime including as a nurse and a cook. She would tell you, however that her most rewarding job was raising her seven children. She loved each child unconditionally and as a unique individual to which her children will testify today. Joyce was a shy quiet person who loved her God, reading, and music. She attended many band concerts, ball games, and other activities for her children and grandchildren. She became a leader of the Brownie Troop so that one of her daughters could participate in Girl Scouts. Joyce was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Preceding Joyce in death was her husband Wayne Seaman, her parents Lloyd and Elizabeth (Taves) Pulaski, two brothers and one sister. She is survived by seven children Gloria Jean (Bill) Weiser, Kathy (George) Brummitt, Dwight (Sherry) Seaman, Gladys (Ken) DeForest, Cheryl Folker, Marvin (Tanya) Seaman, and Stephanie (Joe) Fodor; 18 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors - all whom she loved dearly. Visitation will be held Sunday, October 23, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. A Memorial service celebrating the life of Joyce Seaman will take place Monday, October 24, at 11 a.m. at the Bellaire Wesleyan Church, with Dwight Seaman officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Mancelona. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Antrim County Commission on Aging or the charity of your choice.
