Joy Cowles

Joy E. Cowles, 60, of Bellaire, passed away on September 16, 2016. Joy was born the daughter of Walter and Betty (McDuff) Cowles. Joy had a passion for dogs. She raised and bred English Cocker Spaniels as well as Bernese Mountain Dogs. She also trained dogs and taught obedience classes. Her Bernice Mountain Dogs competed in many Working competitions. While living in Bellaire since 2000, you could quite often find Joy out and around town with her dogs by her side. She is survived by three brothers, Mark (Pat) Cowles of Howell, MI, Garry (Jane) Cowles of Orlando, Fla, and Kent "K.C." (Joni) Cowles of Randolph, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter "Bud" and Betty Cowles. Memorial services will take place Saturday, October 15th at 2 pm at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. Memorial contributions may be made to, Cherryland Humane Society, 1750 Ahlberg Rd., Traverse City, MI, 49686.
