Josephine K. Somerville, 99 of Central Lake, died peacefully, Wed. Aug. 21, 2013 at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility. She was born Feb. 14, 1914, in Ocqueoc, MI, the daughter of Wellington and Lena (Hunter) Kerr. Josephine was a member of the Central Lake United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women's Society. After receiving her high school diploma in 1975, she went to work as a correspondent for the Torch newspaper. Josephine was always helping people and was active with the Commission on Aging. In 1932, in Central Lake she married Glenn Robert Somerville who preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Warren, Kenneth, Max, Esther Murdick, Charlotte Nichols, and great granddaughter Erin Patton. She is survived by her children James (Arlene) Somerville of Pensacola, FL, Maureen (Dave) Patton of Central Lake, Barbara McDowell of Traverse City, Kenneth (Diane) Somerville of Pensacola, FL, 11 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Southern Cemetery, Central Lake. Memorial contributions can be made to Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility or Central Lake United Methodist Church. Arrangements have been handled by the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
