Joseph Leo Schwartzfisher (58) of Charlevoix, Michigan, passed away on November 12, 2024, Joe was born on June 9, 1966 in Petoskey, Michigan and is the son of Leo and Beverly Schwartzfisher.
Joe graduated from Petoskey High School in 1984 and went on to get certified in the State of Michigan as a Firefighter, an EMT Basic, an EMT Specialist, A Fire Instructor and a EMT Paramedic.
Joe married the love of his life Julie Schwartzfisher on April 22, 2003 on Siesta Key Beach, Florida. Joe and Julie were happily married for more than 21 years.
Joe was a jack of many trades, working at Irish Boat Shop, Charlevoix County Sheriff's Department as a Correction Officer, City of Charlevoix Fire Department, City of Charlevoix Department of Public Works as a Heavy Equipment Operator and owned his own small business, Joe's Professional Services. He retired from the City of Charlevoix On May 1, 2024 and received a proclamation for all of his years of service to the community.
Joe was a devoted, kind, hardworking, loyal man who loved to camp with his family, scuba dive, travel to warm places, loved going to Disney World, and taking his wife out on date nights and garden on his hobby farm. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a busy body, always tinkering and finding new ways to help others in the community and his family.
Remaining to cherish Joe's memory are his wife Julie Schwartzfisher; children, Paige Schwartzfisher and Marlo (Tom) Lynskey; step children; Gabrielle Bloomer, Zarin Bloomer and Zachary Bloomer; grandchildren, Zaryah Bloomer and Benson Bloomer-Louiselle, sister Jeannie (Jerry) Guck; nephews Josh Guck, Jordan Guck; niece Lacey Rasmussen and his father Leo Schwartzfisher and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Services will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix, Michigan with visitation from 10:00am to 11:00am with memorial service with Pastor Chip following visitation. Please join us for a luncheon right after the service at Noon to honor and share your memories, stories with each other and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Charlevoix Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or the ASPCA.
