Joseph Coppersmith

Joseph A. Coppersmith Jr., 68 of Mancelona, died Mon. June 27, 2016 at home with his soulmate Judy and son Joe by his side. He was born Dec. 27, 1947 in Owosso, the son of Joseph A. and Shirley A. (Van Strate) Coppersmith Sr. Joe was a lifetime member of the NRA and loved to spend time in the outdoors hunting and fishing. He was a self employed carpenter and worked in the construction field for years. He proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Surviving Joe are his sons Joseph III, and Jason and grandchildren Gabrielle and Savannah. Also surviving are his siblings Dennis, Eric, Cindy, his uncle Sonny Van Strate, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jeff. Funeral services with Military Honors will be held Saturday, July 2, at 1 pm at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with visitation starting at 11 am.
