John Harvey Fleet

John Harvey Fleet, 81, of Bellaire passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Meadow Brook Medical Care Facility in Bellaire.

He was born June 19,1939 in Dearborn, MI to Floyd and Alice (Parks) Fleet.  John spent many summers traveling from Dearborn to Bellaire until moving here permanently in 1973.

John was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mancelona.  He was also a member of the Bellaire Village Council and Village Planning Committee, the Kearney Township Board, and was employed for 27 years at the Antrim County Road Commission.

John loved spending time with his family, and he especially enjoyed camping with them throughout the years.  He also enjoyed sitting on his swing on the front porch with his wife visiting with passers by.  John liked to watch freighters on the Great Lakes, which is where he drew inspiration for the many model freighters he built.

On September 3,1960 he married Marjorie H. Fleet who preceded him in death.  Also preceding him in death were his parents, his son, Brad Harvey Fleet, his grandson, Sawyer Garrison Fleet, and his brother, William Fleet.

He is survived by his children Mark Steven (Kathie) Fleet of Bellaire, Jean Elizabeth (Kevin) Keiser of Bellaire, Erik Michael (Elizabeth) Fleet of Gaylord, Alex John (Denelle) Fleet of Bellaire, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Friday, June 11, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Dan McVey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.  Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire.
