John Weeman

JOHN R. WEEMAN SR., 85, of Bellaire and Traverse City, joined his loving wife Helen on the one year anniversary of her passing Friday, December 21, 2007 at Tendercare in Traverse City, surrounded by his loving children. John will be remembered for his kind and gentle spirit. He was always willing to help those in need and his unfaltering faith in God and his family was evident to all who knew him. John was born October 2, 1922 in Bellaire the son of David and Ella (Berg) Weeman. He graduated from Bellaire High School in 1940 and then joined the United States Navy to serve his country during WWII. He married Helen C. Hunger and they made their home in Bellaire where they farmed. Moving to Livonia, John worked as an Electrical Engineer for the Kelsey Hayes Corporation of Detroit, retiring in 1984. John and Helen traveled for several years in their motor home before settling at the family farm in Bellaire. They became active members of the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church, the Bellaire American Legion, and the Bellaire Historical Society. He left behind four children, Laurie Jo (Max) Raymond of Rapid City, John R. Jr. of Traverse City, Jan (John) Andretich of Beecher, IL, Sandy (Richard) Ewasek of Livonia, four granddaughters Jenny Andretich, Julia Anne Weeman, Andrea and Laurie Ewasek, nieces Pat (Victorson), Nancy (Victorson) Kipling and nephew Richard Victorson, as well as many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen, an infant son David Ross and a sister Laurie Victorson. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 23, 2007 at One pm. at the Bellaire Community United Methodist Church, with Pastor Mary Brown officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Bellaire. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the Bellaire Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
