John Howard

John W. Howard, 77, of Mancelona, formerly of Sparta, passed away on June 5, 2013 at his home. John was born on July 10, 1935 in Byron, MI., the son of George and Myrtle (Grose) Howard. John was a member of the Carpenters Union as well as the Coldsprings-Excelsior Taxpayers Association and was a professional flooring installer. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing. On December 11, 1954, in Central Lake, he married Yvonne L. Scott who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Ronald, Brian, Glenn (Ann), a daughter Laura (Mike) 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews, friends and his faithful terrier "Bobby". He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Alan Lynn Howard, Baby Howard and his parents. Funeral services will take place on Sunday, June 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mancelona Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. Pastor Ross Corne will officiate. Visitation will be on Saturday from 6-8 p.m. also at the funeral home. Interment will take place in Coldsprings Township Cemetery.
