John A. Mulholland, 73 of Central Lake, died suddenly, Mon. May 9, 2011 at home. He was born June 19, 1937 in Butler, Pennsylvania, the son of Lawrence and Emily (Hollobaugh) Mulholland. John honorably served our country in the United States Marines and was a member of the American Legion Post #227 of East Jordan. He was a proud, lifetime member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing. John was very involved in Alcoholics Anonymous and enjoyed talking to people at the coffee shop. He was a firefighter for the city of Detroit from 1957 - 1973. On Feb. 4, 1987 in Bellaire, he married Darleen Gorsha who survives. Also surviving are his daughters Colleen (Frank) Connolly and Kelly (Chuck) Renkiewicz both of Florida, stepsons Stephen (Monica) Kocell of North Carolina and Michael Kocell of Tennessee, 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren his brother Frank Mulholland, and sisters Rosemary Wright and Mary Catherine May. John was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin Mulholland, sister Edith, and brother Robert. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 12, at Two p.m. at the Central Lake Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes with Pastor Don Sinclair officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
