John Michanowicz

John Arthur Michanowicz of Ellsworth peacefully entered eternity early November 3, 2018, at McLaren Hospital, Petoskey, with his brother, sister and Godson by his bedside.

John was born to Arthur and Margaret Michanowicz of Wyandotte on July 22, 1959. They preceded him in death. He is survived by his son, Thomas Michanowicz of East Jordan; siblings, Robert (Joanne), Susan, Richard (Kym), Michael (Karla), and Mary (Frank) and 26 nieces and nephews, to whom he brought many smiles and fond memories.

John had a passion for music and classical western movies. He enjoyed long walks down scenic country roads. John grew a woodsman heart after taking a job with a logging crew in his early adult life. He later crafted his trade as a cherry shaker and a seasoned orchard hand. John also provided janitorial services to Ebenezer and Sacred Heart schools. John was known for his humble nature and was notorious for his culinary skills, specializing in Polish family recipes. His simple nature and joy for life was contagious. With a child's heart, he

entertained his nieces and nephews and inspired them with many funny sayings.

His kindness to everyone he was around was demonstrated even in his final hours, wishing everyone (even his doctors and nurses) his last notorious blessing, "Have yourself a Great Day."

Visitation will be Friday, November 9 at Hastings Funeral Home in Ellsworth from 4 to 7 p.m. with the Rosary starting at 7 p.m. In honor of John's love for the traditional Latin Requiem Mass, it will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Valley Road in Mancelona with the Rev. Father Stephen Webber as celebrant. A luncheon celebrating his life will follow in the church hall. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM, at Ellsworth Cemetery on Eaton Road, Ellsworth.

The family wishes to thank all friends, neighbors, relatives and clergy who have shown generosity and support now and during his joyful and sprit-filled life. He will always be remembered for his grateful heart, and famous line, “Thanks a Million”
